When you visit almost any restaurant in Hawaii, you will find an assortment of “pupus” on the menu. Most of you probably know what pupus are, but for those who don’t, they are what is commonly referred to elsewhere in the world as appetizers. Whatever terminology you use, pupus are a fun way to try a taste of Hawaii! You may even decide to make a meal of them, especially in the case of a new pupu we heard about on the menu at Breakers Restaurant and Bar, at the North Shore Marketplace in Haleiwa. Chef Rose says he has a new favorite taste delight using local white crabs which he gets fresh off the boat in Haleiwa harbor! Here is the description from Chef Rose himself…”This is a dish you won’t want to stop eating! We steam the crabs in butter, garlic, white wine, and my favorite Creole Spice Blend, served with garlic bread. Pair it with an ice cold Castaway beer and you’re good to go!” Chef Rose says he is adding new items to his menu weekly and Breakers also offers a “2 entrees at half price” special from 5-6pm. You may be too full however, once you try the Pupu Special!
