This gem of a restaurant has often been termed “Hawaii’s best little Mexican restaurant” and for good reason! It’s been around for 20 years and it continues to be a popular spot with both tourist and local customers! Nancy Salemi, its owner, says what sets it apart from others is the attention to detail and to constantly improving their menu while maintaining the tried and true favorites. Nancy loves the restaurant business and it shows in the quality offered at Cholo’s! Their food is made from scratch every day and their drinks are made with fresh squeezed limes and oranges. The menu includes traditional fare such as their Carne Asada and their Tamale Plate, but offers island favorites too such as the fish or shrimp tacos and the Ahi Taco Salad. The margaritas are a mainstay also, with favorites such as the Cadillac Margarita and the innovative Li Hing Mui Margarita!
Located in historic Haleiwa, at the North Shore Marketplace, Cholo’s has lanai seating as well as inside dining, but space is limited so it is advisable to call ahead! Another unique feature is their inside décor which features authentic artwork from Oaxaca, Mexico, and many items on display are available for purchase too. With it’s generous portions of great tasting food, Cholo’s is a “can’t miss” spot for your Mexican dining!
