The waves are building, as is the anticipation, as the Van’s Triple Crown of Surfing nears! From November 12-December 20th, all eyes, in the surf world at least, will be focused on this series of professional surf events on the North Shore of Oahu. A total of $960,000 in prize money will be offered, as well as some very prestigious titles! It begins with the Reef Hawaiian Pro, slated for Nov 12-23 at Haleiwa Ali`i Beach. Next in line will be the Van’s World Cup, Nov 24-Dec 6 at Sunset Beach, and ending with the Billabong Pipe Masters event at the Banzai Pipeline, Dec 8-20th. Each of the three events has a two-week “holding period” within which to run the event, with the best days of surf deciding the exact date. It’s an exciting time for those who follow the surf circuit, as so many do here in Hawaii! Even if you are relatively uninformed about surfing’s competitive side, you will be in for a jaw-dropping experience just watching the waves and the thrilling rides of these professional surfers! Among the big names competing this year are Mick Fanning, Kelly Slater, John John Florence, and Sebastian Zietz. The beaches where these events will take place are, like all North Shore beaches, so peaceful during summer months and so dramatically altered by the arrival of the winter swells! You are guaranteed quite a show so don’t miss out on the sights and the spectacle of the 2013 Van’s Triple Crown! The big waves are coming and so is the competition!
