After that amazing Super Bowl game, we’ve got football on the brain here at Seek Spot! While we don’t have a professional team of our own to root for, Hawaii has a rich history of players that go on to play on the college and professional levels. At the moment, almost 60 players in the NFL are of Polynesian ancestry!
The Polynesian Cultural Center just opened the doors to a new Polynesian Football Hall of Fame to honor such individuals from Hawaii and all of Polynesia. The Hall of Fame aims not only to preserve and protect the history of Polynesian football, but to educate Polynesian youths and provide scholarships for Polynesian athletes.
Each year, the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame will induct Coach/Contributor. The players must be retired for a full year and of Polynesian ancestry or born in Polynesia, and coaches or contributors must “have demonstrated a commitment to Polynesia.”
