How Many Whales?…time for the Annual Whale Count!

The Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary Ocean Count relies on volunteers to help during this time of year as they do their annual whale count. They have already had a couple of counts and two more are coming up…. Scheduled for Feb 23 and March 30. These volunteer efforts help to provide information which is vital to the protection of the humpback whales and their winter migratory habitat here in Hawaii, where they come to mate and to give birth. These awesome yet gentle whales are a wonder to behold and their antics are a pleasure to watch! They are a seasonal visitor which we want to ensure returns year after year. You can be a part of this effort by volunteering! If interested go to www.sanctuaryoceancount.org/resources.
